workhouseDAF has launched a version of its Euro 6 XF tractor suited to operation with trailers of three-metre internal height, while enabling compliance with continental height limits.

The XF Low Deck is available as a 4×2 only. It has a fifth-wheel height of 960 mm in running mode. Using the standard rear air suspension, the fifth wheel can be raised by 50 mm at speeds below 30 km/h to facilitate manoeuvres such as driving on and off ferries.

For maximum ground clearance, the Low Deck is fitted with 580 mm high aluminium fuel tanks, with a capacity of up to 1,090 litres, as standard. The 12.9-litre MX-13 engine is used, with ratings of 300 kW/410 hp, 340 kW/460 hp and 375 kW/510 hp offered.

Later this year the 320 kW/440 hp version of the new MX-11 engine (Transport Operator, April) will become available. Operators can choose either a manual or automated gearbox and a wheelbase of 3.60 or 3.80 metres, along with either a Space Cab or an extra spacious Super Space Cab.
