knightsscaniaKnights of Old has invested in 12 new Scania R440 6×2/4 Ecolution tractors, in a bid to lower its fuel consumption and environmental impact.

The 12 trucks were supplied by dealer TruckEast, which also provides full service and maintenance for Knights of Old’s Scania vehicles.

Knights of Old is using the tractors to pioneer Scania’s new Ecolution concept, which aims to help operators reduce CO2 emissions and operating costs by conserving fuel, using a variety of tried and tested methods.

The new trucks are among 46 Scanias to join the fleet in 2013, which also include 11 new R440 Streamline Toplines, set for September delivery.

Kelvin Gingell, technical director at Knights of Old, said: “Much of the emphasis today is about the impact of road miles on the environment and the ever increasing cost of fuel.

“We work very closely with our vehicle suppliers and the investment in new technology is vital in keeping the company moving forward.  Not only do the new vehicles have environmental advantages but our clients benefit from new vehicle reliability.”
