tiptrailerTIP Trailer Services has highlighted the range of ‘Smart Services’ it offers to complement its trailer leasing and rental provision – including maintenance, damage repair, fleet management and telematics.

In an ever-changing marketplace, TIP says it has recognised that customers are looking for top-quality trailer maintenance support through both a workshop- based network and national mobile on-site coverage.

The company claims to offer one of the most advanced workshop networks  available, whilst also operating a fleet of mobile service units nationwide. This dual approach to effective trailer servicing, the company says, is based on high standards of training for the company’s service technicians, and significant financial and equipment investment.

TIP now has nine workshop locations across the UK, of which Newcastle, Knottingley, Simonswood, Manchester, Nuneaton, Felixstowe and Grays all offer ATF facilities.

The company says it is also investing heavily in trailer maintenance, and recently opened a brand-new workshop facility at Simonswood, on the outskirts of Liverpool, which includes dedicated trailer repair bays, state-of-the-art HGV shot blast and paint booths, plus a combined LCV panel repair and paint shop. For the first time ever, this location also has trained personnel to inspect, service and repair trucks and vans, as well as trailers.

Meanwhile, TIP’s fleet of mobile service units (MSUs) can carry out trailer inspection, service and repairs on customer sites. Currently, TIP has a fleet of 57 MSUs with a further four due in operation by July. Each mobile van is fitted with a compressor, welder generator and scrutineer, which along with other tools allows the TIP technician to inspect, service and repair trailers to DVSA standards on site.

All TIP workshops carry an imprest parts stock, whilst TIP has an ongoing training relationship with most of the main trailer manufacturers to ensure that technicians are kept up-to-date with all new product developments.

TIP workshops at Newcastle, Manchester, Nuneaton, Felixstowe and Grays have all achieved Wabco ‘service partner’ status and overall, TIP’s maintenance function has been heavily involved in the development of the new irtec licence, receiving a special recognition award from the IRTE at this year’s CV Show.

TIP now has 55 of its technicians who have achieved their irtec trailer licence, with the rest of the staff scheduled to undertake this later this year.

TIP provides trailer maintenance support for many of the UK’s major blue-chip operators such as P&O Ferrymasters, DHL, Bibby and Ceva. Further information on the full range of TIP Smart Services can be obtained by visiting the company’s website.
