Ring expands reversing camera and alarm range

ringcameraRing Automotive has announced the extension of its range of BackGuard safety camera and alarm systems.

Citing Health & Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that 25 per cent of work-related road deaths are caused by reversing, the company said: “The introduction of reversing cameras has had a major impact in the reduction of accidents bought about by reversing. Camera systems help remove blind spots to prevent costly damage to vehicles or worse accidents involving people. Downtime due to damage and insurance premiums are reduced.”

BackGuard Reversing Cameras can be fitted to 12v vehicles such as vans and tractors, through to 24v vehicles – including road trucks, buses, coaches and specialist heavy duty vehicles such as waste collection and earth-moving vehicles.

New to the range is Ring’s 7” Camera System Kit. The kit has been introduced to meet the demand from the market for an introductory level system that fulfils legislative requirements, the company says, and claims it will allow fleets to fit more camera systems to more vehicles, without compromising quality.

The RBGB1070 7” camera kit system features a fully adjustable 7” screen with waterproof camera, including audio and night vision. The camera is shock proof up to 10G, making it suitable for everyday application, but also specialist applications where durability is a necessity such as mining and earth-moving.

Dual channel video input allows an additional camera to be connected to further reduce blind spots.

The RBGCB2 is an optional side view camera that can be connected to the system. This is particularly important to prevent incidents with cyclists. Most accidents involving cyclists occur on the near side, Ring says; and mounting the additional RBGCB2 camera on the near side removes the blind spot, where cyclists could have otherwise been hidden.

Furthermore, the BackGuard range sees the inclusion of reversing alarms. The range of  reversing alarms come as either 12v, 24v or dual voltage and have an optimised frequency to ensure clear audibility in working conditions without causing a nuisance to neighbouring areas.

In addition to the new products, the BackGuard packaging and brand have been given a striking new look, Ring says.

“This will help easily identify the product in stores, but also provides clear information, so consumers will know which system is the correct one for them.”
