truckcomTruckcom’s smartphone-based fleet management app, Truckcom mobile, has recently been released to the Windows Phone Store, complementing its presence on the Android and iPhone platforms.

The move is the result of a long and painstaking process of development and testing on all three platforms, Truckcom says, to ensure that the user experience of Truckcom mobile is exactly the same across all these devices. Together, the platforms cover around 96 per cent of all smartphones.

“Even though Windows Phone doesn’t have a large market share at the moment, it has two very big names behind it, Microsoft and Nokia, who are selling it hard to try to increase its share in the mobile market,” said Jeff Simmons of the Truckcom mobile development team.

“Publishing a Truckcom App for these phones has an important benefit for users, as many of the best offers at the moment on new smartphones are for Nokias. Nokia are having to work very hard to make sales, so the prices are generally good, as are the devices.

“It therefore made sense to develop the Truckcom app for Windows Phone in order to give our customers as much choice as possible.”
