bfrs event 2015Recruitment agency Drivers Direct has announced it is expanding its workforce, following strong interest at a British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) career open day.

The BFRS event, held in Catterick, attracted more than 400 visitors. Drivers Direct was one of 52 exhibitors at the open day, and says its stand attracted significant interest from visitors looking for a new career once they leave the forces later this year.

The company is now looking to increase the number of commercial drivers it is able to offer its clients across the country to more than 1,000 drivers on the road each week, and to support the new branches it has recently opened in Liverpool, Derby and Romford.

The BFRS was set up in 2009 to help service men and women make the transition from military to the civilian world. They currently work along side the military’s current service CTP (Career Transition Partnership) to provide a bespoke plan for each individual to help them prepare for mainstream employment.

Gethin Roberts, managing director of Drivers Direct and former RAF serviceman, said: “We have supported the BFRS for many years now and have a long history of employing ex-service personnel as they are often reliable, resourceful and skilful candidates who are able to utilise the skills gained in the forces. We also feel it is important to support individuals who served the country to get settled into civilian life again.”

Established in 2002, Drivers Direct covers all driver classes, including LGV Class 1 and 2 drivers, and supplies both the public and private sectors.  The company currently has a network of 20 branches across the UK.
