brigade-pathfindIRBrigade Electronics has introduced its new PathFindIR II thermal imaging camera system, which it says allows drivers to see up to four times further than when using headlights in total darkness, poor weather conditions, dust and smoke.

Designed for commercial vehicle use, the compact camera system detects the heat signature of objects, displaying images on a monitor and providing drivers with increased vision. The PathFindIR II enables drivers to see pedestrians and animals up to 125 metres away (450 feet) past the glare of oncoming headlights, says Brigade.

“An object’s heat signature is undetected by the naked eye but is easily picked up by the infrared imaging camera. PathFindIR II automatically detects and visually alerts the driver to nearby people and animals by highlighting the images on the monitor,” said the company.

“The advanced technology is so robust it can see through darkness, smoke, and dust. As PathFindIR II detects heat and not light, the driver can see clearly, night and day, in all weather, without being blinded by the glare of oncoming headlights.

“Headlights and work beacons are displayed less powerfully, preventing the driver from being dazzled by other vehicles, whilst making him aware of it.

“The compact camera is easy to install, works through a standard video output and fits in a range of locations. They can also be linked to reversing and side view camera systems for optimal, all-round vision.

“The thermal imaging camera provides drivers with utmost safety in poor visibility; preventing accidents and saving repair costs. PathFindIR II is ideal for long construction vehicles, mine and quarry machines.”
