BPW launches solar-powered telematics system

fm_aidem telematics, part of the BPW Group, has announced the latest addition to its cargofleet range – a solar-driven positioning system.

Specifically developed for long range monitoring of all mobile units, such as trucks, trailers and containers, across mainland Europe and the UK, the system enables companies to monitor the location and security of their consignments.

Being entirely self-powered, the system is independent of the truck unit and said to be ideal for fleet operators who own their own trailers, but also those who subcontract their haulage.

Thanks to an integrated solar panel, which recharges a long-life battery, the system tracks by GPS/GLONASS over a period of three to five years.

Security of trailers and high-value cargos is maximised through geofencing and motion sensors, which send alerts if a trailer is moved without authority, and can provide an exact location to assist with recovery.

Trailer loads are further protected via remote door lock controls, which display and document all status changes. Meanwhile, access to real-time data and detailed reports allows fleets both to manage their mobile assets and meet customer requirements.

BPW is offering a six-month trial of the system, for a limited time only.

The company’s full telematics range also includes options for temperature controlled distribution, and construction industry vehicles and machinery.
