Gundel’s costs slashed after switch to Shell FuelSave Diesel
Gundel Transport Services, a mechanical handling transport and general haulage company based in Nottingham, has reported substantial savings in reduced fuel and vehicle maintenance costs since it switched its fuel to Shell FuelSave Diesel.
Kevin Gundel, who founded the company in 1987, said: “We started using Shell FuelSave Diesel two years ago in our fleet of eight heavy goods vehicles. We saw the benefits almost immediately. The biggest benefit has been the savings in vehicle maintenance costs from the improved life expectancy of the vehicles’ fuel injectors.
“In the past, we had to recondition approximately five sets a year, with each treatment costing over £1,000. To date we have only had to do this once a year. We’ve also seen total annual fuel consumption of the fleet reduce by around two per cent. Together these savings have helped make a big impact on our bottom line.”
Shell says its internal tests with Shell FuelSave Diesel in heavy-duty engines used in road transport vehicles have shown fuel savings of up to three per cent compared to regular diesel without fuel economy formula.
The product is also formulated to help to keep heavy duty vehicles 
performing as the manufacturer intended, claims Shell – as well as to help reduce fall-off in engine performance, help prevent against fuel system corrosion, and help reduce foaming when refuelling.
Emma Wyatt, Shell fuel scientist, added: “Carbon deposits often build up over time in the engine injectors of heavy duty vehicles, which can impact their performance. Shell FuelSave Diesel contains a powerful detergent designed to help prevent this from happening. This can help improve fuel economy over the lifetime of the vehicle.”
