Novadata ‘helps businesses use agency drivers wisely’

novadata_lrTransport training and product specialist Novadata has introduced a new Agency Driver Declaration book, which is designed to help organisations minimise the risk of operating illegally by inadvertently breaking drivers’ hours law when using agency drivers.

The Agency Driver Declaration book records the personal details of the driver, their work history since their last weekly rest, and details of the agency they are employed by, which Novadata says could prove invaluable in the event of an inspection.

Each declaration is to be filled out and signed by the driver and produces a duplicate of the form, so that both the driver and organisation can retain a copy for their records.

“We understand that transport businesses up and down the country require the services of agency drivers from time to time,” said Su Winch, Novadata managing director.

“Although responsible businesses will already be checking that these drivers are not working in breach of drivers’ hours law, the Agency Driver Declaration book provides evidence of the information supplied to a business by the individual driver, with their signature as a declaration.

“In the event of an inspection, a business will be able to demonstrate that according to the information that they were supplied with they were operating legally, should this ever be called into question.”

Novadata’s Agency Driver Declaration book also reminds agency drivers of their obligation to return used tachographs to the business that they are working for temporarily.

As an additional safeguard, Novadata has also created the License Verification Audit book to ensure that all current and temporary drivers are entitled to drive the vehicles that they are employed to operate.
