Talent in Logistics Awards deadline extended

The entry deadline for this year’s Talent in Logistics Awards has been extended to Friday 28 April, event organisers have announced, due to overwhelming interest and requests from 3PLs, transport companies, training providers and retailers for more time to enter their team members.

The Talent in Logistics Awards is a new annual event whose aim is to recognise and reward excellence in training, learning and development in the logistics sector.

Submissions were originally set to close on 31 March, but companies now have another month to put forward nominees for the event. Entry is free and can be completed here  – where there is also a full list of awards categories.

Entering the Awards will help organisations demonstrate and prove their commitment to quality training and CSR, says organiser Capitb – which also owns workplace transport training regulatory body RTITB and the new National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI) – while also helping businesses to support recruitment, encourage employee retention and improve team morale.

The Award categories recognise a wide range of skilled professionals throughout the industry, from training and health and safety staff, to learning and development (L&D), HR and logistics managers.  Warehouse employees, LGV drivers and apprentices will also be recognised.

The Talent in Logistics Awards will be judged by representatives of leading industry bodies and associations within the logistics sector, including: Colin Snape, deputy director of policy, Road Haulage Association; Richard Brewer CMILT MAIRSO, manager, National Register of LGV Instructors; Shane Walton, head of professional development, CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport); and Peter John Harvey MBE, chief executive, Fork Lift Truck Association.

The judges’ panel will also include representatives from event media partners, including Transport Operator – as well as SHD Logistics, Health & Safety at Work and Training Journal and from charity Transaid.

Shortlisted finalists will be announced in mid-May and winners will be revealed at the inaugural Talent in Logistics Awards ceremony on the evening of 22 June 2017 at the Telford International Centre.  The Awards will be presented by special guest host, stand-up comedian, and star of BBC One sitcom Not Going Out, Tim Vine, over a champagne reception and deluxe three course dinner.

The Awards will provide companies the opportunity to celebrate with their employees while networking with fellow professionals from the logistics, warehousing and transport industry.

Individual tickets for the Talent in Logistics Awards start from £150 and special discounts are available for organisations wishing to celebrate with their whole team by buying a table. Those wishing to ensure a place at the Awards event should contact talentinlogistics@capitb.co.uk for tickets.

Taking place on the same day in Telford, a free Talent in Logistics Conference will offer seminar sessions focused on the key issues facing learning and development professionals in UK logistics.  Live forklift competitions will also take place during the day in front of hundreds of guests.

With places filling up fast, Capitb is encouraging interested parties to register for a free place as soon as possible at the Talent in Logistics website.
