Sweeping changes for DAF transmission

DAF is to offer the ZF AS-Tronic automated manual transmission as a factory option on its dedicated LF roadsweeper chassis, which are marketed in conjunction with bodywork manufacturer Johnston Sweepers.

Currently, operators can choose between a conventional six-speed manual gearbox and an Allison fully-automatic transmission.

DAF says that the wide ratio spread of the 12-speed two-pedal AS-Tronic (10.37:1 to 0.81:1) allows for both efficient operation at low working speeds and high-speed economical travel between working sites. The ZF ‘box is available on 16 and 18 tonne versions of the roadsweeper using the PX-7 engine, and the chassis is also available for use by other roadsweeper bodybuilders.
