CV washing and disinfection expertise from Istobal
Multinational automotive washing equipment supplier Istobal offers a wide range of solutions to satisfy the maintenance and care needs of all types of fleets, which it says can guarantee efficient and rapid washing and disinfection of vehicles.
The company, whose UK subsidiary is located in Stourport-on-Severn, says it is also pioneering the development of advanced disinfection technologies, through solutions deisgned to guarantee both human safety and the total disinfection of vehicles.
Its portfolio includes the Istobal HW’Intrawash, said to offer maximum efficiency for internal washing and disinfection.
The automated equipment offers professional interior cleaning and disinfection of refrigerated trailers, truck beds, trailers and marine containers, and has established itself as an alternative to manual washing, the firm says.
“This equipment achieves an effective, controlled and safer disinfection in the interior cleaning of trucks compared to manual washing, reduces the average cleaning time by 60 per cent, in addition to achieving greater control and savings in the consumption of chemical products and water,” said Istobal.
“Thus, while the average time allocated for manual cleaning of a trailer is 15 to 20 minutes and the disinfection of the same depends on the rigour with which the disinfecting chemical is applied, with Istobal HW’Intrawash cleaning and disinfection is carried out effectively with a standard five-minute programme.”
The equipment is said to provide the chemical concentration, quantity and reaction time requirements necessary for each transport fleet, and to comply with the IFS (International Featured Standard) certification that applies to the food supply chain.
“Easy to use and install, this innovative, internationally patented equipment rigorously applies bactericidal chemicals and performs high pressure washing, dragging the dirt out, which is collected with a hopper,” said Istobal.
“It consists of a system of connection guides on a base platform that is inserted and moves inside the vehicle to perform a high-pressure wash with high impact nozzles.
“Controlled by a traction geared motor with a frequency variator, Istobal HW’Intrawash washes vehicles up to 16 metres long in depth. This pioneering equipment consists of a fixed base, with the option of a raised platform or lateral movement, to be able to be installed outdoors or on a washbay.”

The company also provides vehicle arches, for 360° external disinfection of large vehicles in one pass.
“With an average disinfection capacity of about 1,000 vehicles per day, this system is easily installed as a self-contained arc and is made up of several sprinklers that spray disinfectant product as vehicles pass, reaching every part of them,” said the company.
“Thanks to a photocell detection system, the arch is automatically activated when the vehicle passes, and sprays biocide product to achieve rapid disinfection of large vehicles.”
For the external cleaning of commercial vehicle fleets, Istobal HW’Progress is another of the solutions offered by Istobal to achieve effective washing and disinfection.
This washing rollover stands out for its flexibility, says the firm, since it is adaptable to the specific requirements of each type of fleet: vans, trailers, buses, tanker or garbage trucks, construction sector vehicles, and others with special characteristics.
“It has a novel foamy application of chemical prewash that differentiates it from other automatic washing systems,” said Istobal.
“The foamy texture guarantees greater efficiency of the chemical product thanks to a longer reaction time on the vehicle’s surface. In addition, the automatic application of the chemical prewash also saves time and controls consumption by washing.”
Istobal HW’Progress also features driven vertical brushes with double scrubbing function and shampoo injection by dosing pump, and flexible configuration of up to 15 programmes.
A variety of options are available such as automatic prewash systems with high internal, lateral and top pressure that reach any corner of the vehicle, the manual prewash gun or low-pressure high-pressure wash.
Another innovation recently launched by Istobal UK is Smartwash for fleets, a digital platform which automates and monitors the washing process of any vehicle fleet, including trucks and buses, from any device.
Smartwash for fleets is said to provide greater control over vehicle cleaning, since it provides the user with real-time data on washing frequency, registered vehicles and washing programmes.
It also enables faster fleet cleaning and optimises the washing process, says Istobal.
“This technology has an automatic vehicle recognition system, and assigns the frequency and the washing programme without the need for the driver to get out of the vehicle,” said the company.
“This eliminates possible misinterpretation of the driver in choosing the type of wash programme.
“Smartwash for fleets has a control panel that collects and reflects visually and intuitively all the data on the use of the installation and on the state of the equipment, allowing the creation of reports and statistics for greater control of fleet washing.
“In addition, it has an API interface for integration with other management systems in order to take full advantage of connectivity.”
