Lymm Truckwash keeps cleaning through Covid-19 crisis

Vehicle cleaning provider Lymm Truckwash has remained open during the coronavirus pandemic, operating within its usual hours to ensure essential washing services are available to fleet operators.

“Our aim is to keep the trucks on our roads as clean as possible to help restrict the spread of the virus while they deliver essential supplies to the nation and NHS, plus keep the drivers and our staff safe while providing this essential service and a warm welcome,” said managing director Laura Cardwell.

Lymm Truckwash continues to open from Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm (last wash at 4.30pm), and on Saturdays from 7am to 11.30am. The company highlights the benefits during the crisis of its totally contactless payment system, which protects drivers and staff as there is no need for the driver to leave the cab.

Each customer pulls up two to four metres away from the driver height kiosk, and the ANPR camera captures the registration. If on account, the driver confirms his surname and the type of wash, then the e-receipt is sent straight to the fleet manager, with invoices provided once a month by email.

If payment is by credit card, contactless payment is also available via a machine on a pole. Snap and fuel card payments are also available; Lymm Truckwash is currently not accepting cash payments.

In addition, to help protect staff and customers and comply with government guidelines, social distancing and regular handwashing and cleaning are being deployed, with staff kitted out in full PPE clothing. Free tea, coffee and biscuits have been provided to drivers, including via sponsorship from DAF, as a thank you for the key work that they are undertaking.

Lymm Truckwash is also now offering cab sanitising kits for sale.

“These can either be bulk ordered and delivered to the customer or collected from the wash, or bought at the kiosk,” said the company.

“These are over 65 per cent alcohol based so will kill the virus and one product can be used on the outside of the cab as well as the inside.

“Many of our customers, such as Arclid, Senator, BP Mckeefry and XPO have recognised that the drivers need as much protection as possible while being on the frontline and have therefore purchased in bulk.”

Lymm Truckwash’s new site has proved a hit in the logistics industry, the company says, having already welcomed over 1,000 new customers and 55 new accounts since it opened in October, with customers including Manfreight, Monks Farm, Gwynedd Shipping, Frontier, Farrall’s and Hendricks.

Laura Cardwell said: “The feedback from all our customers has been so positive and everyone is really impressed with the site.

“Richard Burnett, chief executive of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) visited the site at our official opening In November 2019- he and the RHA are incredibly supportive…

“The site is for the HGV driver: he is number one here, which is not often the case. In addition, the investment benefits the local economy and business community.”

Regular customer Bill French from transport company Turners of Soham, added: “Seeing this impressive facility makes me realise we should never take our truckwashing in house.  It is a subsidiary industry to logistics and is best left to the professionals.”
