Lifting solutions provider Penny Hydraulics has remained open for business throughout the Covid-19 crisis, and reports that it has received a surge of enquiries from small and medium businesses across the UK.

“Our range of vehicle mounted lifting equipment are enabling businesses to perform additional tasks and to help to build their business,” said the company.

SwingLift lightweight cranes (pictured) have been extremely popular as their compact design and 250 – 500kg lifting capacity are perfect for van drivers.

Hydraulic ‘PH’ cranes have been in high demand for industries such as log delivery as they fit perfectly onto a flatbed vehicle provides 1 tonne+ lifting capacity whilst leaving ample payload.

“Penny Hydraulics’ LoadLift have enabled businesses to deliver a range of large and bulky items from van to floor safely and efficiently.”

The company says its lifting solutions reduce the risks of injury associated with moving and handling, and enables tasks to be carried out by fewer people, which is useful for social distancing.

Recent customers include a large UK telecoms group, which placed an order of over 800 Lightweight Knuckle Joint (KJ150) cranes to boost its new fleet of vehicles.

“The Penny Hydraulics KJ150 SwingLift crane offers 150kg lifting capacity at 1m reach whilst taking up very little space in the back of a van,” said the firm.

“The crane and mounting pillar weigh just 36kg, taking very little from the overall payload of the vehicle.

“The knuckle joint is perfect for moving heavy generators out of vans to enable the work crew to carry out maintenance before returning them back into the vehicle.”

The orders have been won by large UK based vehicle converters, Penny Hydraulics reports, with the lifting solutions added as part of a whole vehicle conversion including specialist racking and accessories.

The use of a KJ crane is said to speed up the process of moving heavy items on and off the van. The crane also means that just one person can complete the operation, thereby granting the team increased agility in carrying out tasks.

In addition to boosting efficiency, the mechanical handling solution also removes the need for the workforce to incorrectly lift heavy items and risk injury, adds Penny Hydraulics.
