TVL tackles theft with ProtektaPlate

Security systems specialist Trade Vehicle Locks (TVL) has outlined how its ProtektaPlate product can help prevent thieves from bypassing vehicle locking systems.

“As OEM security increases and develops, so do the methods thieves adopt to bypass these systems,” said TVL.

“Gone are the days of thieves only carrying a small flat bladed screwdriver – more and more commonly, thieves are becoming more violent and are using the latest power tools to drill or cut their way into vans by accessing and overriding certain parts of the locking mechanism.”

The ProtektaPlate has been developed by TVL to answer these vehicle-specific vulnerabilities, the firm says.

“Using our in house R&D facilities and 30 years’ knowledge in the vehicle security industry we were able to design, manufacture and provide a solution that not only addresses vulnerabilities that have been discovered already, but also adds protection to other vulnerable areas of the locking mechanism,” the company continued.

“The ProtektaPlate has also been designed for ease of installation with the installer in mind; kits are supplied with full fitting guide/templates.”

Numerous shapes and sizes are available, with unique bespoke applications formulated to address specific vehicle vulnerabilities, while a proactive design is said to protect against future entry methods.

The high-security internal fixing plates offer an effective visiual deterrent, TVL adds, and the products are said to offer a neat, high-quality stainless steel finish, covering damage on vehicles that have already been attacked.

“Our range of plates not only protect the vulnerable part but they also provide an inexpensive repair for the customer,” the company said.

Other products supplied by TVL include replacement drivers’ door locks, uprated for additional security.
