GS Yuasa launches battery tester and snack pack scheme

Battery manufacturer GS Yuasa has launched a new multi-functional battery and electrical system analyser, the GYT250, suitable for battery and electrical system tests for commercial vehicle, automotive, leisure and motorcycle types.

The new GYT250 analyser has been designed with commercial vehicles in mind, says the company. It will allow users to test both conventional and next-generation (EFB & AGM Start-Stop) 12V vehicle batteries up to 2000A.

The tester is also capable of standard and smart alternator, starter and earth tests (12V & 24V) to give a comprehensive overview of a vehicle’s starter and charging system health.

The GYT250 has three primary battery test types – warranty, health check and stock check – said to provide advanced, cost-effective CV battery analysis.

Managing vehicle battery warranty claims can be complex, so the GYT250 accurately determines if a GS Yuasa product should be replaced under warranty, says the company.

Health check reports on the state of health, voltage and CCA performance of batteries that have been used on a vehicle – while the stock check feature is said to be perfect for battery stock management testing of new batteries that are in storage prior to being installed in a vehicle.

James Douglas, marketing and product manager at GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd, said state-of-the-art technology had been deployed by GS Yuasa engineers to ensure the new tester was highly accurate and easy to use.

:”We are delighted to have launched our brand new multi-functional battery and electrical system tester. The GYT250 features industry leading technology, suitable for use on all types of batteries including next generation AGM & EFB,” he said.

“Equipped with a colour screen and integrated printer, along with customisable tests to make battery testing quick and easy, our new GS Yuasa analyser will modernise battery and starter health testing across the industry.”

In addition to the release of the GYT250, GS Yuasa has also launched a free snack pack scheme for the trade. Workshops and technicians can now receive a pack full of tasty treats every time they purchase Yuasa or GS branded batteries from participating distributors nationwide.

Each Yuasa and GS branded snack pack includes a can of soft drink, packet of crisps, chocolate bar and bag of sweets.

GS Yuasa says it has launched the scheme to encourage workshops to stock up and beat the winter rush – and to provide technicians with a much-needed snack supply to help them get through the busy period.

The battery manufacturer cites surging demand for servicing, repairs and MOTs as vehicles get back on the road which, combined with approaching winter, means the requirement for batteries is higher than ever.

James Douglas added: “We are excited to launch our free snack pack promotion to workshops. The coronavirus lockdown has had a massive effect on vehicles, causing many non-start, battery related problems. Combine this with the winter season around the corner, we are expecting the demand for batteries to be higher than ever.

“We are encouraging all workshops to act now and test every battery on every vehicle to ensure they make the most of the opportunity this winter, but more importantly, so they can enjoy a free snack pack on us during these busy periods.”
