T Wilson & Sons (Farmers) Ltd has recently invested in a Code Talk Trailer Diagnostic Reader and TrailerCheck Light & Air Brake Tester from CV equipment distributor aide automotive, allowing the company to inspect and maintain its trailer fleet in-house.

The diagnostics handset communicates with a trailer’s ECU, reading and clearing ABS/EBS fault codes on Wabco, Knorr-Bremse and Haldex systems.

Trailer workshops can eliminate fault finding by reading the ECU codes to determine where a fault lies, says aide’s Matthew Burke – making the point that being able to clear historic codes is invaluable during service and inspection.

The system now interfaces to Haldex EBS Generation 1, 2 and 3; Wabco TEBS E and D; and Knorr-Bremse EBS Gen 1. Code Talk also acts as a remote control for the TrailerCheck product range, providing information on lighting wires, voltages and pin out information via the display.

“Future updates will cover newer systems and with no annual software fee,” said Matthew Burke.

Rob Wilson of T Wilson & Sons added: “To have up-to-date test and inspection equipment is paramount in our desire to have a highly maintained fleet of vehicles.”

Code Talk can also show live air pressures, wheel speeds, and system voltages to further assist with trailer diagnostics, and can additionally act as a remote to the Van TrailerCheck, allowing the user to work from inside an HGV service van.
