Logistics UK (formerly the FTA) has expanded capacity for its Transport Manager CPC qualification in association with City & Guilds.

The move follows the withdrawal of the OCR examination board from the qualification this March (Transport Operator 93).

This expansion enables app-licants and holders of standard goods vehicle operator licenses, together with their transport managers, to continue to meet ‘professional competence’ re-quirements. Logistics UK’s Transport Manager CPC Training is available as classroom-based, online or blended learning.

Chris Lipscomb, Logistics UK’s director of operations, said: “Despite the upcoming changes in exam provision, it is essential that operators and their transport managers achieve, and continue to demonstrate, professional competence.

“Logistics UK is one of the biggest business groups in the UK with unparalleled compliance knowledge, quality and reputation.

“We are proud to be working with City & Guilds to expand our capacity and ensure we meet the increased demand that will follow OCR’s final CPC examination registration in March. We anticipate high numbers of bookings and recommend enrolling now to avoid disappointment.

“Our e-learning course is available to all classroom delegates prior to the exam. And with a ‘pass first time or we pay for your resit’ guarantee, we are confident that our market leading course will provide delegates with all of the information needed to acquire the qualification and excel in their transport management roles.”

Suki Thorogood, head of industries, assessment and dev-elopment at City & Guilds, said: “We are delighted to partner with Logistics UK to offer the Transport Manager CPC qualification. The industry offers structured and sustainable employment opportunities and represents a key sector within the UK economy.

“This qualification ensures that high professional standards are maintained and by offering the chance for it to be undertaken remotely, in person, or via a blended approach, we can ensure that these opportunities are available to the widest selection of learners.”

Independent trainers prev-iously operating under the OCR remit are now transferring to the Skills & Education Group.

Sean Pargeter, managing director of EP Training in Surrey, told Transport Operator: “We have just put through our last candidates under the OCR regime, although resits will be in operation until the end of the year.

“Candidates who have passed one module with OCR will be able to take that forward with Skills & Education Group. The changeover has been seamless for us.

“We had considered going the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport route, but they seemed to be swamped with applications from former OCR trainers.”

Novadata has also switched to Skills & Education Group. “There have been no changes to the transport manager CPC syllabuses, yet,” reports managing director Su Winch. “However, that may change in the wake of the UK being able to tailor the content independently in the wake of Brexit, and also the increased complexity
