Jost unveils trio of trailer innovations

CV technology provider Jost has launched three new products designed to boost the efficiency and reliability of trailer operations: the Plug and Play tyre inflation system, the Modul E-Drive electronic landing leg and the Tridec lightweight steering system.

Since the start of 2021 all Jost-World products have seen sold and supported in the UK under the Jost GB umbrella, which includes Jost, Edbro, Tridec, Rockinger and Quicke components in its portfolio. The range is said to provide fleets with a one-stop-shop trailer solution.

“Our products throughout the world are made with one thing in mind: helping our customer ensure their transport operations run safely, efficiently and reliably,” said Danny Broomfield, managing director for Jost GB.

“These three new products are part of that commitment – supplying our customers with high quality systems which maximise uptime and that business can rely on time and time again.”

The three new products all make significant steps towards more autonomous and intelligent operations, says the company, aligning with its brand promise, Innovation with Tradition.

The Jost Plug and Play tyre inflation system – which can be fitted to semitrailers or trailers – continuously monitors the tyres on all axles, readjusting them if the pressure gauge reads too low.

Said to be easy to assemble and install, the system requires no additional conversions, making it suitable for all common trailer types, and is compatible with all common control systems. The result is optimised tyre pressure, less tyre wear and reduced fuel consumption.

Meanwhile, the Modul E-Drive is Jost’s new electronic landing gear, which lowers the landing legs at the touch of a button, providing fleets with an alternative, safer and time-saving solution compared to the traditionally manual process.

Eliminating any need to manually crank the landing legs, the Modul E-Drive makes uncoupling and coupling the trailer easier, says the company, significantly increasing workplace safety and overall operational efficiency.

The Modul E-Drive is said to be especially beneficial to operations where trailers are coupled and uncoupled frequently or where landing gear access is restricted.

The third product, the Tridec lightweight electronic steering system, is designed to provide the ultimate solution for trailers with very limited mounting space without compromising on payload, Jost says.

Quick and easy to install, it features the intelligent patented EF-S system, which reacts to even the smallest steering motion to steadily follow the truck without any delay, preventing chassis damage.

The weight advantage the steering system makes it an ideal solution for low loaders, milk collection and bulk transport, adds the company. Steering on a maximum of three kingpin steered axles, that can be turned via a wireless remote-control, offers additional manoeuvrability whilst reducing tyre wear and fuel consumption.

Remarking on the three new products, Danny Broomfield concluded: “Our designers and engineers at Jost factories in the UK and throughout the world are continuously investing tremendous time and resources in making sure our product line up continues to lead the way when it comes to providing customers with the most reliable and efficient solutions available.

“The tyre inflation system, Modul E-Drive and Tridec lightweight steering system are three more instances of this and we’re looking forward to talking to customers about these innovative solutions soon.”
