Crouch Recovery, one of the largest and fastest growing recovery operators in the UK and mainland Europe, has expanded its vehicle lifting capabilities at its Leicestershire workshop with the addition of a Y-Mech Lift from lifting and testing experts Totalkare.

The Kibworth-based, family-run operator’s fleet of more than 70 heavy and light recovery vehicles include a range of service vans, light recovery vehicles, heavy duty low loaders, mobile cranes and specialist winching units – all of which are instantly recognisable due to Crouch Recovery’s involvement in the terrestrial TV programme Trucking Hell.

To support the continued repair and maintenance of the fleet, Crouch Recovery identified the need for a permanent vehicle lifting facility in addition to its existing Totalkare mobile column lifts. It needed to have a heavy lifting capacity and sufficient bed length to accommodate the full range of Crouch Recovery’s fleet.

As the vehicle lifting equipment partner of choice for Crouch Recovery, Totalkare was engaged to install a Y-Mech Lift with 35,000kg lifting capacity and 13-metre platforms, complete with extra long approach ramps and jacking beam.

The lift features rollover and roll-back protection and mechanical safety latches to provide maximum safety when a vehicle is raised, and it can be fully galvanised to provide an ideal outdoor wash bay solution if required, too. Available platform lengths range from 6 – 13-metres, with safe working load capacities ranging between 25,000 and 35,000kg.

“We’ve been very pleased with the flexibility offered by our cable-free mobile column lifts from Totalkare, but felt we needed to complement these with a permanent vehicle lifting bay to optimise efficiencies in the workshop,” said Adam Crouch, director at Crouch Recovery.

“Totalkare’s new Y-Mech Lift is ideal for this – it can lift our full fleet of vehicles thanks to the long platform length and load capacity and we’re already seeing the benefits of this installation.”

“It’s a pleasure to continue supporting Crouch Recovery as the business goes from strength to strength,” said Adam Bowser, sales director for Totalkare.

“Alongside our T8DC cable-free mobile column lifts, the Y-Mech Lift really does give Adam and the team the best of both worlds in terms of vehicle lifting capability and with our comprehensive service package they also get full peace of mind.”
