OTS unveils tank range for sustainable fuels

Tank specialist OTS Group has launched a new range of storage systems for sustainable fuels.

While advanced and alternative fuel technologies were once a niche product, the sustainable fuel sector is now growing due to the increasing urgency around transport decarbonisation, points out OTS.

“Over the decades, OTS Group has constantly evolved in response to industry needs and new technologies,” said the company.

“With the release of our new range of storage alternatives for sustainable fuels, we hope to do just that.

“With the range of sustainable fuels available, and the range of ways in which these can be used, it was clear to us that OTS Group needed to step up to ensure that there were appropriate fuel delivery, storage and maintenance systems available for sustainable fuels across the UK.”

The company has developed its offering for the storage of sustainable fuels through work with organisations like the Fuel Experts Association (FEA) which represent companies developing clean energy and clean liquid biofuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO).

One of the main opportunities for these fuels is that they can be manufactured to directly replace conventional fossil fuels (so called “drop-in” fuels), says OTS, which means that the uptake is likely to be quick and widespread as it can be used by the existing fleet.

OTS offers temporary and permanent storage solutions for sustainable fuels, available for purchase, hire and loan.

The flagship products are the double-walled polyethylene tanks intended for storage and distribution of HVO or other biodiesel fuels. The tanks are made of high-quality polyethylene, the main feature of which is resistance to various weather conditions, and include built-in dispensing equipment in a secure cabinet.

The company’s range includes AdBlue tanks, made of special materials compliant with DIN 70 070 due to the corrosive properties of the substance. The standard was issued by the European Chemical Industry Council.

“Throughout this constant evolution, innovation has remained the underlying principle to everything we do,” said OTS Group chairman, Bruce Woodal.

OTS Group is an independent consultancy which also offers bespoke steel tank manufacture, tank testing, tank and bund wall lining, and decommissioning and disposal of unwanted tanks.

It also provides tank cleaning, fuel polishing, tank hire, and full repair and installation for all fuelling types.

“As the demand for steel increases, we have sourced supportive storage solutions to aid any delay in manufacture, keeping your business on track,” said the company.

“The polyethylene tanks can be standalone as buy-and-go option, alternatively we can install into your existing fuel storage.”
