Philips raises the bar on lighting

Lumileds, the company behind the Philips Automotive Lighting product ranges, has revised and upgraded its commercial vehicle portfolio in the last year.

The range is said to provide both improved life and durability to assist truck and fleet owners and operators whether large or small, as well as garage professionals.

The Philips Commercial Vehicle bulb range, as before, sports three options, each with its own unique performance or style criteria.

The latest Philips MasterLife headlights is said to offer an even longer working life than before – now up to 1,200 hours. This is possible through the use of a robust double coil filament, a unique gas combination and quartz glass, says Lumileds.

Meanwhile, the MasterDuty range now enjoys further enhanced vibration resistance, which makes it suitable for trucks whose work requires ultimate protection against mechanical shock, says the company. They also feature a robust double coil filament that is manufactured to withstand severe vibration while remaining stable.

MasterLife and MasterDuty both come in H1, H3, H4 and H7 configurations.

Lumileds also cites the style and performance benefits of the Philips MasterDuty BlueVision product, which produces a blue Xenon effect, in combination with the durability and vibration resistance of MasterDuty. The blue effect in the headlight combined with powerful white light on the road also offers improved safety, says the firm.

Philips MasterDuty BlueVision are available in H3, H4 and H7 variants.

All of Philips 24V lamps are of original equipment quality, adds Lumileds, as they are the choice of many vehicle manufacturers worldwide.

The Philips 24V bulb range also includes a comprehensive range of fog lights, positioning lights, indicators, stop and running lights as well as a wide range of interior lights and dashboard lighting. Philips 24V signaling and interior lamps offer a wide range of lighting solutions in both standard or LED formats for truck, bus or heavy-duty vehicle.

Philips has also designed two MasterDuty spare bulb kits to meet operators’ lighting solution needs while on the road, to enable drivers to change lamps where necessary.

“It is all about reducing downtime to a minimum,” said Lumileds’ UK and Ireland automotive business development manager, Richard Armstrong.

“We are now able, not only to offer bulbs that are at the forefront of lighting lifetimes, but also those which offer a great all round blend of performance, style and durability.”

Meanwhile, in the Philips LCV range, the multi award-winning Philips RacingVision halogen headlight has been officially rated at +200 per cent of the industry standard bulb, and has been renamed RacingVision GT200 to reflect this.

The X-tremeVision Pro150 now inherits the RacingVision’s +150 performance rating, while offering a lifetime of up to 450 hours and 10G shock protection.

Philips Xenon bulbs are also available for light commercial vehicles.

The current Xenon range is said to offer even more light on the road, while maintaining its high OE quality and performance.

Shortly available in the UK and Ireland is a fresh generation of road-legal lightbars for trucks. The Philips Ultinon Drive 5000L series combines the brightness and clarity of light from LEDs with rugged design, says Lumileds.

The new Philips lightbars are said to provide superior visibility of around 400 metres or more and give drivers a clearer view of the way ahead and more time to plan or react to changing conditions.

The high-lumen LEDs produce a combined spot and floodlight that illuminates potential hazards on the roadside as well as in front of the vehicle, while the cool 6,500 Kelvin colour temperature is said to enhance driver focus without inducing eye-strain.

The sturdy, single-piece build of the Philips Ultinon Drive 5000L series allows for optimised heat management and consistently high light output, adds Lumileds, while IK07 impact resistance ensures trouble-free performance on uneven surfaces and the un-breakable polycarbonate lens will withstand bangs and scratches.

Further features highlighted include dust and water resistance to IP68 and IP69K standards, robust connectors, and stainless-steel mounting brackets that are corrosion-free and capable of handling snow, ice and even salt, said to ensure years of reliable service.

“Light is fundamental to driving, so Philips products promote active safety protection – preventing accidents by increasing overall visibility and road illumination,” added Richard Armstrong.

“This allows drivers to be seen sooner and to see further down the road, so they can avoid potential hazards. Philips lighting solutions, when combined with passive vehicle safety features, help enhance overall driver confidence and promote a safer driving experience.”

Lumileds offers a truck product selector tool to allow operators to check which lights are suitable for required applications (www.24vguide.com/en).
