Barry Napper announces Android app

Barry Napper & Co Ltd has developed a new mobile app which links up vehicle onboard weighing systems direct to an Android mobile phone.

Said to be simple and easy to use, the technology allows drivers to receive weight information direct to their mobile phone. The company highlights the system’s particular value in situations such as in quarries and on docksides where it is not permitted to leave the vehicle to read a chassis mounted display.

It can also be used when a driver is loading their own vehicle, at a feed mill, for example, and is said to improve operational efficiency and ensure driver safety.

The technology is compatible with the Barry Napper & Co Rinstrum R320 and X320 weigh systems and is reportedly already proving popular.

“We’ve supplied our new app to a number of different customers and the feedback has been really positive,” said Ian Napper, company director.

“It only takes a short time to set up the Bluetooth transmitter, meaning you can be up and running within a matter of minutes. We designed the app to make the read-out clear and easy to see at a glance and we really hope it makes life easier for drivers.”

On-board vehicle weighing equipment specialist Barry Napper & Co Ltd is based in North Lincolnshire and supplies animal feed, waste management, aggregate and bio-fuel businesses.

The company says its focus is to ensure customers can fully optimise payloads and safely operate within legal limits – with systems designed to be robust, accurate and easy to operate, which can be retrofitted to older vehicles as well as new builds.
