Cranleigh reports savings in switch to Shell Rimula lubricant

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEuropean long-haul specialist Cranleigh Freight Services has reportedly saved almost £100,000 by switching to Shell Rimula R6 LME 5W-30 – a synthetic heavy-duty diesel engine oil that is said to offer enhanced fuel economy compared with high-viscosity oils, without compromising engine protection or durability.

Cranleigh wanted to improve fuel economy of its fleet to reduce costs – and due to its high mileage, the company reached out to Shell distributor Silgo Lubricants Ltd. for expert advice on promoting fuel efficiency.

Silgo Lubricants, with the support of the Shell technical team, recommended that Cranleigh Freight Services should trial Shell Rimula R6 LME 5W-30. After a 13-week trial on a mixed fleet of long haul trucks, a 2.92% fuel saving was reported from using Shell Rimula R6 LME in place of its previous engine lubricant. This produced a saving to the business of £98,500, Shell says.

Features of Shell Rimula R6 LME oil include advanced low SAPS (sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur) additive technology and unique anti-wear system. Its protective power is enhanced, Shell claims, through the use of synthetic base oil technology, that increases additive activity to deliver low-viscosity fuel-saving performance with no compromise in durability.

Shell Rimula R6 LME is compatible with exhaust emissions control systems, and offers extended maintenance intervals and fuel-economy performance. Shell says the oil is especially suitable for Euro 4, 5 and 6 vehicles.
