Ring reports double success at CV Show
Vehicle lighting and equipment supplier Ring Automotive has reported strong interest from its two stands in different areas of this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show, targeting two different customer groups.
In Hall 5, visitors to the Ring stand were able to see the full range of products the company supplies for the vehicle converter market. This included the new Pure Sine Wave inverters that will give a constant smooth supply of mains power, from which even the most sensitive electronics will operate.
Richard Morley, Ring business unit director, trade, said: “The stand worked well for us. By having a visualisation of a van, visitors were able to understand what products we supplied and how they fit within the behicle conversion market. The real positive was that majority of the enquiries from this stand were interested in a range of products, not just a specific one or two items. Our offering was able to say to potential customers; with Ring you can reduce your supplier base – a very unique and valuable proposition for customers.”
Just off the main entrance to Hall 5 was Ring’s other stand, set up to replicate the company’s bulb test laboratory. This stand was aimed at advising fleet managers on bulb technology and providing clarity on bulb performance.
This was particularly important after the recent report by VOSA, Ring said, showing that headlamp misalignment is the most common failure for HGVs during an MOT test – accounting for over 30 per cent of the failure rates. VOSA were also concerned about the construction of bulbs, conformity of production to regulations and inferior products entering the market.
“While having a bulb failure is not judged a significant fault, failure to take action to minimise re-occurrences is an issue,” said Ring. “Being found to have regular bulbs failures or misalignments will adversely affect the drivers’ Operator Compliance Risk Score.”
Nick Cameron, Ring’s marketing director, said: “The bulb seminars worked really well. You could tell from the questions being asked that visitors were engaged and wanted to know more. All those that attended realised that a bulb is not just a bulb and that by selecting Ring’s 24v TruckMaster bulb programme they could achieve economies of scales and ensure drivers adhere to the standards of the Operator Compliance Risk Score. We now have a lot of promising leads to follow up.”
