Demand still healthy for Driver CPC
Training providers are reporting demand for Driver CPC courses continuing into the New Year, with some drivers still completing their initial five modules of training.
Andrew Bourke, the managing director of Absolutely HR Ltd, told Transport Operator: “We have six courses booked already with a minimum 10 drivers on each course, and that’s just the next six weeks or so. We are encouraging our clients to look at doing a module a year, rather than the all at once rush.”
On the topic of what a potential split from the European Union could mean for Driver CPC, Mr Bourke also pointed out that even if the UK left the EU following a referendum, this would not be held until 2017, and the final split would be unlikely before 2020. Even then, drivers crossing to Europe would still require the qualification.
Driver Skills Training director Colin Tuck said: “We have clients booked throughout the year doing one module per year; we have a full week running next week, virtually fully booked. DCPC will be a slower demand than 2014 but it will produce a steady put through.”
Staplehurst Transits training manager Paul Wicks reported healthy demand for courses being run in the last two weeks of January and enquiries from drivers looking to commence their second round of training later in the year.
Paul Gaskin, an instructor at Ritchies Training Centre reported he was still training 15 drivers at a time on five-day courses and these were drivers doing their first sequence of training!
