Eddie Stobart joins RHA

stobartThe Road Haulage Association (RHA) has announced the addition of Eddie Stobart to its membership list.

The logistics and warehousing giant – among the UK’s best-known operators with a fleet of more than 2,200 trucks and 3,200 trailers – said it was pleased to be joining the ranks of the RHA, not least because of the organisation’s work in raising awareness of the industry driver shortfall.

CEO William Stobart said: “The RHA works hard for the industry on all levels. In particular it has put the issue of the driver shortage firmly on the political agenda. A united industry has far greater power to bring about change and, without doubt, we will be stronger together.”

RHA chief executive Richard Burnett added that Eddie Stobart’s decision to join was “great news” for its members.

“We have spent the past six months working hard to modernise our strategy on all levels and we are actively focusing on raising the profile of the Association and providing better commercial deals for members,” he said.

“Every RHA member, whether an owner driver or a multi-million pound operation is important to us and we pride ourselves in giving the same, high level of service, regardless of company size.

“The commitment of a such a high profile operator will increase our buying power when negotiating the best deals for members with suppliers and will further enhance our already strong influence with government, opinion formers and key decision makers when lobbying for a fair deal for the industry.”
