CMS SupaTrak connects to protect

Swindon-based CMS SupaTrak has outlined some of the operational benefits of its Connected Camera telematics solution.

The company provides a suite of telematics products and services for fleet operators, including vehicle tracking, driver behaviour, remote tachograph downloads, driver EcoCoaching and in-cab vehicle checks and job management.

Jason Airey, managing director of CMS SupaTrak (pictured, right), says the Connected Cameras offer a reliable, integrated solution designed to help fleets protect their operations. The company’s systems are in operation with many RCV and HGV operators across the UK.

“We also provide an OEM manufacturer fit option, tailoring the configuration to the exact vehicle specification for efficient production line installation,” said Jason.

Standard functions of the Connected Cameras include live streaming, remote downloads and crash reconstruction.

The system can be deployed as a single forward-facing crash camera or when requested by clients, and an all-around eight-camera DVR system is said to provide full visibility at all times. All cameras fully integrate with CMS SupaTrak’s other telematics systems, the firm says, providing a single interface for all operational and compliance requirements.

Said Jason: “Video clips are automatically downloaded based on vehicle-triggered events, such as a reverse manoeuvre or operating bin lifts. Crucial location data and video imagery is captured, helping operators with transparency to support driver behaviour training as well as mitigate insurance claims.”

Connected Cameras enable real-time impact alerts to be set up within the web-based application. Once triggered, both telematics data and video footage are downloaded and combined within the CMS crash reconstruction dashboard. Operators can access the remote camera diagnostics at all times.

“Our customers can be confident that their Connected Camera system is operating as expected all of the time,” Jason continued. “They will not have to go to an accident to find that a camera was broken ever again.”

Users include independent drinks wholesaler HB Clark, part of the Kitwave Group, which required vehicle-based cameras to help it reduce insurance premiums, protect the business from fraudulent claims and support an ongoing driver training programme.

Darren Williams, operations and fleet manager for HB Clark, commented: ‘We wanted a robust, reliable and feature-rich camera solution where we could stream live footage, request historical downloads, but also integrate telematics data in the event of an incident.

“CMS SupaTrak ticked all the boxes and were the obvious partner for us. The information provided by the Connected Camera solution has been invaluable to us.”
