Sweeper fleet puts trust in aide CV Stop

Highway maintenance contractor Trustseal Ltd has adopted the CV Stop auto-braking proximity reversing safety system from aide automotive, to help reduce the risk of accidents involving its road sweeper fleet.

CV Stop automatically applies the brakes when a person or obstacle is in close proximity to the rear of the vehicle. This is achieved by measuring the phase shift; thus CV Stop can accurately map and detect people or objects behind the vehicle.

CV Stop activates when the vehicle is in reverse (forward optional), continuously monitoring at a distance up to three metres behind the vehicle.

The system will automatically apply the brakes if any of the sensors detect an obstacle, leaving sufficient time for a person to move or the vehicle being realigned. Brake application is pulsed, so there are no sharp jolts when stopping at speed.

Features include an override button for reversing into narrow streets and parking, to allow for vehicle overhang. The override times out by default after 30 seconds for safety reasons; this is programmable to customer specifications.

Trustseal technical manager Rob Horne said: “With health and safety always on the forefront of Trustseal’s policy, we looked for a solution to prevent reversing accidents. With our fleet of road sweepers and due to their working conditions/environment, we moved forward with aide automotive’s CV Stop Auto Braking System.

“CV Stop improves our standards of accident prevention; the system will prevent any reversing collisions and protect our vehicles. Also, we found the system to be futureproofed if we decided to add forward protection, which makes this system cost-effective. Thanks, Matt and the team, for the support.”
