Lisle Design improves company card hosting
Tachograph specialist Lisle Design has announced improvements to its hosting system for company cards.
Hyper is a card reader and protocol that allows users to host many hundreds of cards on a single server. These individual card readers come in Hyper modules of 20 or 30, which fit in standard computer racks 3U high and 19 inches wide. Users can buy additional 20 or 30 Hyper card units, as required.
“The Hyper protocol is the clever part,” said Thornton White, Lisle Design’s director of development.
“This allows you to host hundreds of cards on a single server with the added benefit of logical enumeration. This means that whenever you reboot your server/PC, it will always see card reader 10 as card reader 10 in its device manager, and so forth.”
Since its launch, numerous service providers have integrated Hyper with their remote downloading software, says the company: this includes Dynafleet (Volvo), TIS-Web (VDO), Teltonika, Transics (ZF), Xirgo, Tachofresh, DKV Telematics, Geotab and many others.
“If you use any of these solutions, you can enjoy the benefits of Hyper today,” said Thornton.
“This simple integration process involves an easy adjustment to the remote downloading software that a customer uses.
“The problem we identified is that some customers are not able to adjust their remote downloading software to accommodate the Hyper protocol.
“We seek to improve as much as possible. Now we have a version of Hyper which requires little or no integration. This includes the benefits of logical enumeration of the card readers in the PC’s/ server’s device manager.
“This is precisely the position for the likes of Ruptela, Scania and Fleetboard. These companies are now using the Lisle Driver. The benefits are enormous.
“As a result, any customer can now host hundreds of company cards on a single PC by introducing this Lisle Design Driver, which is very easy to install.”
