Autocraft: diagnostic tools ‘essential’ in modern age

Given the seemingly endless advancements in technology, says Autocraft, vehicles now come adorned with a plethora of systems that boost reliability and arguably make fleet operators’ lives easier.
“Understanding all of it is difficult enough, but only the first hurdle; love them or hate them, computers are controlling our vehicles already,” said the company.
“Even a simple task like opening a window involves at least two computers, one asking another to carry out a task – and provided both are happy, the window opens. All of this happens seamlessly, and the majority of us have no idea what makes it work; it just does – most of the time.
“Whatever the end goal, as the technology evolves, so must the capability of those repairing and maintaining the vehicles. Even when fitting new components to a vehicle, very often the ECU (electronic control unit) will need to be told that a new component has been fitted.
“If it is not coded/written into the ECU correctly, that component will not work, or behave in an incorrect manner.”
Up-to-date modern diagnostic equipment is an essential tool in every workshop, Autocraft contends, while some training is essential.
“Although tools and training can be thousands of pounds to purchase, Autocraft Equipment are able to help spread the costs to ease the burden,” said the company.
