Shrieve outlines AC oil offering
Shrieve Products International Ltd has emphasised the crucial role that air conditioning oil plays in the AC systems of commercial vehicles.
“The compressor may be considered the most important component of a HGV’s air conditioning system,” said Rob Chevasco of Shrieve Products International.
“Regular maintenance and using the correct oil in your system reduces the risk of compressor failure. The lubricant serves several key purposes; which make the right choice extremely important for HGV and PSV systems: lubrication of the compressor; removal of heat; sealing the system; reduction of noise; [and] protection of other system components.

Among Shrieve’s range is Zerol HD46, a fully formulated lubricant designed specifically for applications with HFO refrigerant R1234yf in mobile air conditioning systems. Zerol HD46 is suitable for use in belt-driven and electric mobile air conditioning compressors.
Rob highlights a number of advantages of the product, including superior lubricity, which enhances compressor life by ensuring efficient running at temperature extremes; and good high temperature and chemical stability, even in the presence of system contaminants such as water, resulting in system lifetime extension and reduced maintenance costs.
The product is suitable for belt and electrically driven compressors, and is backwards compatible with systems using R134a, meaning less room for human error in oil selection. Zerol HD46 is also OEM approved.
“Zerol air conditioning lubricants for automotive applications have significant market acceptance and have received extensive worldwide OEM approvals,” Rob added.
The company also supplies Zerol HFO, a performance-enhancing treatment product which it says is perfectly placed to help extend the life of air conditioning compressors. It was developed specifically for systems using R1234yf and R134a where an OEM specified lubricant other than HD46 has been used, where extra protection and stability may be needed.
