Kumho has outlined some of the key products in its extensive truck tyre portfolio, which it says has benefited from significant investment in new technology in recent years.

“Recognising the ever-growing demand for multi-purpose tyres, Kumho now offers its 3PMSF marked KXS10 steer and KXD10 drive patterns in 315/70, 295/80 and 315/80R22.5 fitments,” said the company.

“The range offers excellent all-season performance across a variety of operational demands, together with increased mileage.”

Meanwhile, the extra-load, Euro 6 compliant KRS50 regional steer pattern has become a prime option in the sector within which Kumho operates and provides a number of premium equivalents with a degree of healthy competition, the firm adds.

“This popular pattern is now also available in 295/80, 315/70, 315/80 and 385/65R22.5 XL sizes.”

KRS50’s regional drive axle partner, KRD50, has proved to be a significant improvement over its predecessor, says Kumho.

“On average, customers have experienced a 10-15 percent increase in mileage and improved wear performance characteristics. KRD50 is now offered in all the main 17.5, 19.5 and 22.5 inch drive sizes.”

Relatively new to the line-up is the KRT03, which features a deep and wide tread design for longer mileage and even wear, solid shoulder for equal contact pressure and stone ejectors in all grooves. It is available in 17.5 and 19.5 inch trailer fitments.

The company also highlighted its KMA12 offering.

“Regarded by many as one of the finest mixed service super singles on the market, this workhorse product has become the mainstay of many fleets in both trailer and steer positions,” said Kumho.

Specialist tyre wholesaler RH Claydon is responsible for the nationwide distribution of Kumho’s range of truck tyres from its six depots in Great Britain. Kumho truck tyre sales throughout the island of Ireland remain in the hands of Kumho’s long-standing distributor, Modern Tyre Service.

Kumho also offers a selection of tyres for the LCV market.

The PorTran KC53 is primarily designed for the latest generation of commercial vans and has been optimised to deliver exceptional highway performance, the company says.

“The heavy-duty KC53 boasts a wide tread and stable block pattern ensuring outstanding dry handling, even in maximum load conditions,” Kumho continued.

“Broad cross-grooves provide precise steering in both dry and wet conditions, while wide straight circumferential grooves minimise the risk of aquaplaning. A robust carcass results in improved traction and higher mileage, while low rolling resistance ensures optimum fuel efficiency.

“KC53 is currently available in some 38 H, T, R and Q rated sizes ranging from 145R13C to 215/60R17C, the latest addition to the line-up.”

Kumho’s latest LCV product, PorTran 4S CX11, is an all-season tyre for vans and light commercial vehicles.

“It was created by combining the strengths of the company’s much-praised all-season Solus 4S HA32 passenger car pattern and its existing winter specification van tyre, the PorTran CW11,” said the firm.

It is said to ensure safe, secure driving and excellent braking performance throughout the year. Initially the PorTran 4S CX11 is being supplied in 15 sizes ranging from 15 to 17 inches, which between them will accommodate the most popular vans and LCVs operating on Europe’s roads, including: the Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Fiat Ducato, Renault Kangoo and Volkswagen Transporter. Three new 17-inch sizes are due to arrive during 2022.

Finally, the winter alpine pattern PorTran CW51 is aimed at providing light commercial vehicles with the best in traction and handling in snowy and/or icy conditions, says Kumho.

“It features 3D sipes in the shoulder area for superior handling and reinforced tread blocks for improved stability, and is available in no less than 18 sizes.”
