A comparison between the features and benefits of in-ground and mobile brake testing models was the topic of the first episode of the Commercial Vehicle Podcast from Totalkare, a series launched earlier this year focusing on numerous aspects of workshop equipment.

The episode looks at differences in load capacity between the company’s mobile and in-ground brake testers, and factors to consider when looking to purchase roller brake testers, including groundworks, workshop space and installation across inspection pits, the quantity of testing units required, and how quickly brake testing capacity is needed.

Last month, the equipment provider released a further episode on brake testing, covering nine questions workshop operators should ask before investing in brake testers.

The podcast series covers a wide variety of other topics including shaker plates; diesel smoke meters; the government’s super deduction tax incentive scheme for capital investments; torque tool calibration; the costs of wheel misalignment; inspection pit safety; headlamp testing; and the benefits of improved oil management.

It also homes in on lifting equipment, covering essential extras for lifting operations; comparisons between two- and four-post lift options; mobile column lift part exchange; the risks of under-chassis washing with regular column lifts; and whether to opt for fixed lifts, mobile columns or pits.

Totalkare additionally released special podcasts to coincide with Earth Day on 22 April, on emission reduction strategies.

The series is available on the Spotify, Anchor, Apple and Google podcast platforms.
