Components provider First Line Ltd, which supplies a range of suspension and steering parts for commercial vehicle applications under the Borg & Beck brand, has explained the detail behind some of its quality assurance processes.

“Heavy duty vehicles play an integral role in moving product efficiently, and as the world adapts to an ever-growing ecommerce market, the demand for fast delivery has never been so important,” said First Line.

“As a result, the automotive aftermarket needs to keep pace to meet the demand required for high-quality parts to service this market.”

As steering and suspension components are safety critical, Jon Roughley, global marketing director for First Line Ltd, is urging the aftermarket to opt for quality to ensure added reassurance on UK roads.

All Borg & Beck steering and suspension components are manufactured to OE specification, branded and batch-coded for full traceability and subjected to the company’s extensive testing and approval processes.

“For ultimate protection and longevity, steering and suspension parts are fully E-coated,” the company added.

“This procedure delivers several key advantages, starting with its exceptional corrosion resistance in all weather conditions and a high resistance to stone chips and other road debris.

“It also provides protection from chemical degeneration such as oil/brake fluid, affords a uniform covering across the entire surface of the product and is environmentally friendly.

“For total reassurance, development and production parts are routinely tested above and beyond the specifications of the OE component, going through more than 18 different assessment types, including metallurgical analysis, dynamic load, destructive fatigue, and product specific tests, such as ball pin pull load and radial movement measurement.”

The firm continued: “Borg and Beck CV suspension parts also feature forged ball pins on torque rods and V-stay bars to ensure increased durability versus cast alternatives, which are also available in the aftermarket.

“As a result, all Borg & Beck CV components are supplied with a 24-month, unlimited mileage warranty against manufacturing defects for total peace of mind.”
