UK market leader DAF will use the IAA to unveil a new range of distribution trucks, the New Generation DAF XD, which will become available on top of its predecessor, the DAF CF distribution range.

Production is slated to begin in the autumn, and the DAF XD will be able to accommodate all driveline types, including alternative powertrains. Based on the platform of the XF, XG and XG+ long haul trucks, it is understood that the cab will follow the same styling themes.

Features will include a large windscreen, and large side windows with ultra-low belt lines. Direct view is enhanced via the low cab position and optional curb view window, while indirect vision comes in the form of the DAF Corner View and DAF Digital Camera System.

“Class leading fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions are realised through – amongst others – outstanding cab aerodynamics, a new Paccar MX-11 driveline and advanced driver assistance systems,” said the manufacturer.

“The DAF Connect fleet management system provides for time-saving, over-the-air software updates. Extensive availability of PTOs, body attachment modules and connectors contribute to first class bodybuilder-friendliness. “
