Fighting theft with aide automotive
CV equipment supplier aide automotive offers a variety of solutions to help increase fleet security.
FuelKeep is said to be a highly effective, low-cost anti-siphon device for the high volume large tank market. It is available for vehicles with 105 mm external diameter and 80mm internal tank inlets.
Cited benefits include high strength steel, high fuel flow and a quick and easy permanent fit. An extensive range of models are available including external and internal devices, to fit vehicles including Volvo, Foden, DAF, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Renault and Iveco.
“FuelKeep is quickly fitted to the tank with no drilling or gluing and has been tested to refill up to 120 litres per minute, devices work with OEM fuel caps,” said aide automotive.
Long-standing aide automotive customers include John Povey Haulage, which has regularly invested in anti-siphon devices for its HGVs to help protect against fuel theft.
In addition to anti-siphon devices, aide also supplies the TankGuard truck fuel theft alarm (pictured).
“TankGuard has a sophisticated sensor fitted externally in a discreet location on the outside of the fuel tank,” said the firm.
“If thieves attempt to remove the locked cap, or jemmy out the sender unit or in any way attack the tank then the Tank Guard alarm will be activated. This will result in a 114 decibel siren or voice alarm.”
TankGuard automatically arms after the ignition has been switched off for sixty seconds, and is said to be a relatively easy aftermarket installation with the option of adding a second sensor for dual fuel tanks.
TankGuard can also send an immediate alert via text; a GSM unit works in conjunction with the TankGuard to warn of immediate theft attempts. Text alerts can also be sent for alternative valuable items like a catalytic converter.
aide automotive also offers the Trailer VOR Lock, which prevents unauthorised VOR trailer movements.
Said to be easy to apply and remove with a key control, it features a robust stainless steel manufacture and fits most standard trailer formats. Recent customers include West Yorkshire-based Quest Waste Management.
