BM brake test pit offers easier installation

Recent developments by testing equipment manufacturer BM include the introduction of its BM65 prefabricated steel brake test pit in the UK.

The move comes in response to DVSA requirements for loaded testing, which BM says has been difficult and expensive to negotiate for many.

“This is a new concept in easy installation of vehicle test equipment,” said the company.

Designed for the rigours of outdoor testing in Scandinavia, the BM requires no concrete for installation; the walls are strong enough to be placed directly in the ground.

“The BM65 is the easiest way to provide load simulated axle testing,” the firm contends.

“The entire unit is factory-built and can be pre-fitted with either a BM14200 brake tester and axle loading, or a 16-tonne lifting rollerbed BM18200 brake tester and wheel play detector.”

The unit can be fitted into a suitable site within a day; only drainage and power need be connected.

The BM65 can be fitted with a hydraulic lifting lid for outside use, or without for indoor use. Should an operator move sites, because the BM65 is not concreted into the ground, it can be removed and taken to the new workshop.

Heating units can be included for winter outside use, and ventilation/extraction can be added to the large connection ducts.

The unit can be connected to an existing drainage system. If there is no suitable drainage available, a sump can be installed along with a drainage pump to remove any water buildup.
