Diesel Technic, one of the world’s largest suppliers of automotive parts and accessories, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Founded in 1972 by Horst Lieberwirth and Erwin Naujoks, Diesel Technic was originally an exporter of standard and DIN parts in the automotive aftermarket, and has since developed into a leading solution provider to the automotive industry with a full range of more than 41,000 different spare parts.

“This year, we are delighted to celebrate Diesel Technic’s 50th anniversary,” said Mark Todd, general manager at Diesel Technic UK.

“We are a company built on core competences in the development and global supply of guaranteed quality branded spare parts, valued by our distribution partners and their workshop customers across the world as a reliable partner that keeps their business and vehicles moving.”

Diesel Technic has continuously expanded its product range over the past years and decades.

Between 2017 and 2020, the company invested more than €30 million to expand its headquarters in Kirchdorf, Germany and the logistics capacities in the branches. The investment went into the heart of the company, the Diesel Technic Quality System (DTQS), and, in addition to expanded testing and state-of-the-art measuring facilities under laboratory conditions, also included an electronics test laboratory to ensure optimal quality conditions.

A key part of this investment was in the expansion of the logistics centre in Kirchdorf, including a fully automated small parts warehouse, which Diesel Technic says has allowed it to continue the path to efficient and space-saving warehousing and faster product availability.

Customers have seen improved delivery quality as well as flexible storage performance, the firm says, adding that it has been able to adapt its inventories optimally to the needs of the market as a result of the expansion.

Mark Todd continued: “Providing the best possible customer service is the driving force for Diesel Technic. We always have our finger on the pulse offering solutions that make life as easy as possible for our distribution partners and their end customers and to provide them with the best possible day-to-day support in their business.”

The procurement and information platform Partner Portal for distribution partners plays a central role, says Diesel Technic, as do the extensive service offers for end users, such as the Premium Shop and the HelpDesk.

In addition, the Diesel Technic Parts Specialists regularly publish videos with hints and tips on the assembly and functioning of individual products and product groups to simplify everyday workshop work.

“Diesel Technic has built up a comprehensive package for distribution partners and their workshop customers over the past decades, which continues to be constantly optimised and further developed for the future,” Mark said.

“Especially here in the UK, we have been investing heavily in new stock, revamping our Euro VI range by around 1,000 references this year to improve our availability to partners.  Alongside this, we have been adding 50 – 80 new items every month for various vehicle marques as part of the product range expansion. Together with our partners, Diesel Technic is looking forward to the future with much optimism.”
