Stertil Koni lift adds value at MAN Avonmouth

Following the success of two previous acquisitions, MAN Truck & Bus has purchased another Stertil Koni heavy-duty four-post vehicle lift, type ST4250, for use at its Avonmouth workshop.

The latest ST4250 heavy-duty lift is used to simplify a variety of workshop activities, including the servicing and maintenance of HGVs and vans ranging from 3.5 tonne units up to heavy haulage vehicles.

Specified with 11.5-metre-long platforms, the four-post lifts feature a unique design that eliminates the need for cross beams thereby ensuring unobstructed access for operatives and tools to both vehicles and the lift itself.  This also means that users can choose the ideal working width to set up, depending on the type of vehicles to be serviced.

The Stertil Koni ST4250 offers a maximum lift height of 1.9 metres which is achieved in 72 seconds, which the manufacturer says makes it one of the fastest heavy-duty vehicle lifts in the world.

Controlling the lift is made easy and safe for workshop engineers utilising Stertil Koni’s ebright Smart Control System which features a seven-inch, full colour touch screen. The system can be used to programme a range of functions including lifting heights and lifting cycles.

The control console also houses the power and operation unit which provides simple maintenance and inspection access.

Supplied complete with a full lighting kit and air-operated jacking beams for wheel-free maintenance, the ST4250 also features a manual override function to allow lowering of the lift in the event of an interruption to the power supply.

Following a successful demonstration of a set of extra-long 1,860mm articulated run-up ramps fitted to an existing four-post lift in 2018, MAN Truck & Bus opted for the same specification on the latest installation.

These run-up ramps are attached to the end of the platforms so that they rise up with the lift and tuck in to stop them protruding into the workplace. This also eliminates the trip hazard of having long platforms bolted to the workshop floor.

Stertil Koni cites reliability, long lifespan and high resale value as among the benefits of its vehicle lifts. All models are rigorously tested during development and parts are guaranteed to be in stock for at least 25 years after production, says the firm, which has been awarded ISO 9001 and is part of the international Stertil Group.

“Around 120 vehicles pass through our workshop each week,” said Mark Gowler of MAN Truck & Bus Avon.

“We operate from 6am to 10.30pm and the Stertil Koni four-post lifts continue to provide excellent reliability in a demanding environment.”

The ST4250 heavy-duty four-post lift was supplied by Stertil Koni’s local distributor, Avon Valley Services, which provides comprehensive after-sales support to companies throughout the South West and Wales.
