Dr Air Brake launches Compact VTC
Diagnostics specialist Dr Air Brake has introduced a ‘baby brother’ to its established Van Trailer Check (VTC) system, the Compact VTC, which it says is an affordable option aimed at the smaller ‘man in a van’ mobile technician business.
“This is a smaller and more compact ‘tractor unit in a box’, offering most of the same technology as its big brother [the VTC] but without the ability to link external diagnostic equipment to it,” said Dr Air Brake.
The unit offers fast one-man mobile or workshop trailer service and diagnostics functionality, testing lighting, ABS-EBS-CAN circuits and all air brake systems on trailers.
Powered from batteries within the technician’s own vehicle (24V system) or via mains PSU (110v and 240V), the user need simply connect the unit’s air and electrical lines into the trailer, allowing all lights, ABS-EBS and air brake circuits to be tested in one go. Lights can be operated via a small remote fob, so they can be checked whilst walking around the trailer.
Claimed benefits include reduced service, inspection and fault-finding time; and the ability to service multiple trailers, in turn offering increased earning potential. Connecting leads can be purchased for a small optional cost.
