Autocraft advises on affordable diagnostics
Workshop technology provider Autocraft Equipment has offered guidance for CV workshops seeking affordable diagnostics options.
“Times are tough and the thought of spending upwards of £6,000 on essential diagnostic tools is a bitter pill to swallow for most businesses,” said the company.
“But is there something out there that doesn’t break the bank that actually works?
“The answer is not as simple as a yes or no, and will ultimately depend on what functionality is required by the user. Even the cheaper tools will have enough functions to satisfy most users with the simple everyday tasks like reading and erasing faults, live data, DPF regenerations and so on.
“The advice we give to our customers is to ‘try before you buy’.
“At Autocraft Equipment we carry a range of products and allow the customer to trial them over a short period before committing to a purchase.
“There are systems available that don’t have to plunge you into the red. There are also ways in which to purchase items that help spread the payments to make the equipment essentially pay for itself.”
One of the company’s ‘budget busting’ tools is the Think Tool Reader HD, which provides full vehicle diagnostics, the ability to read and clear DTCs, read freeze frame and read version information, as well as live data stream, actuation test and trip information functions.
A further option is the Delphi DS150E, which can read and erase fault codes, read and graph live data parameters, and print and save diagnostic reports. Functions include service light reset, intelligent system scan (ISS – full vehicle ECU scan), component activation and adjustment, ECU coding, data logger, battery voltage monitoring, intelligent system updates (ISU) and intelligent system identification.
“Our advice is to ask for a demonstration first off and see the tool working,” said Autocraft Equipment.
“Then trial it for a week or two and make your own opinion (not a salesperson’s). If you like it, buy it, but if you don’t, try another. If you don’t want the big financial hit upfront, spread the payments via a payment plan.
“Whatever you decide, there are people out here that are happy to help you find the right equipment for you and your budget.”
