Prologic goes further with Fargo tech investment
Logistics provider Prologic has implemented proof of delivery technology from Fargo Systems in a bid to help ensure supply chain visibility, in the context of recent disruptions faced by the sector.
Mark Turner, transport manager at Prologic, explained: “To some extent, disruptions can be anticipated and planned for. Our response to these challenges is to make our business as efficient and agile as possible, creating transparent, sustainable, and resilient supply chains.
“Our partnership with Fargo Systems began in 2010 with the implementation of TOPS. Whilst the technology was serving us well, I soon identified that TOPS had greater functionality than we had been using. Post system review and after a successful trial, we decided to increase our investment in TopsTMS and add TOPS ePOD to our UK operation.”
TOPS ePOD is more than just a proof of delivery tool, says Fargo; it also delivers a simple, secure and efficient way to get the driver’s full transport order instructions – with the benefit of no EDI link required.
It caters to real-time status updates, capturing times at each location, and allows the driver to view the site on a map and update ETAs. Once the proof of delivery is received, it is immediately visible to the transport planning team and automatically sent to the signatory/pre-specified email address.
The simplicity of the solution means it can be used on any mobile device with a data connection, says Fargo; it requires zero administration, no device setup and has no upfront costs.
Prologic managing director Ben Manley added: “The TOPS ePOD trial has been a great success across our fleet. The provision of real-time visibility and event information lets us stay one step ahead throughout the delivery process. It simplifies pre-job planning and post-job reporting and supports our drivers’ location accuracy through the view location option.
“It’s the ease of use and the fact it required minimal pre-use setup or training, enabling it to be introduced seamlessly into our Felixstowe and London Gateway operations from day one. This now means our use of TOPS and TOPS ePOD are integrated elements of our operating procedure and play an integral role in supporting our compliance and growth strategy for 2023.”
