Garage equipment supplier JHM Butt & Co Ltd offers a variety of commercial lifting equipment as part of its product portfolio.

“The commercial workshop environment presents its own unique lifting requirements from two-post and four-post lifts, scissor lifts, column lifts to pre-fabricated steel pits – whatever the requirement we have options to suit,” said the company.

“The common misconception when looking at lifts, is the lifting capacity defines the lift required, but unfortunately this is not the case. For example, when working on light commercial vehicles such as LWB Sprinter vans, it is often assumed a 4-ton two-post lift will suffice. In order to obtain the correct jacking points on these vehicles the arm span needs to be longer than on standard 4-ton lift options.

“Generally speaking, two-post lifts with lifting capacity of 5 ton and above will have the correct specification for the arm length required. For example our Supalift BVL5000B has an arm span of 1,700mm which will suit most LCVs, our Ravaglioli KPH370 gives you 1,800mm arms, but then our BVL6000CF boasts a massive arm span of 1,900mm.”

Options available from JHM Butt include a commercial scissor lift, with lifting capacities ranging from 9-ton to 30-ton and platform lengths of up to 13 metres; four post lifts ranging from 12-ton to 24-ton and up to 9 meter platforms; and mobile column lifts.

“Where a lift is not the best option, we also offer pre-fabricated steel pits built to suit, equipped with air operated jacking beams –  this solution is often more effective for many workshops,” said the company.

JHM Butt says it can offer a complete package solution, effectively project-managing the process including site visits to determine the available space, advice on making the most of an investment, and CAD drawings. Its team of GEA-accredited engineers can also install and maintain the equipment.
