Jost aids safety with tyre inflation system
Jost, the global supplier of systems, modules and components for commercial vehicles, has developed a tyre inflation system, which is designed to automatically maintain optimal tyre pressure levels, ensuring longer tyre life, better fuel efficiency, and increased safety on the road.
“From July 2024, it will be a legal requirement for all new manufactured trailers operating in the EU to have either a tyre inflation system or a tyre pressure monitoring system installed – the UK is also expected to align with this new legislation in due course,” said the company.
“This is a significant step forward in improving road safety, as underinflated tyres continue to represent one of the major causes of commercial vehicle accidents.”
The system works by using a combination of a compressor and pressure valves to monitor, maintain and if required adjust tyre pressure levels automatically, ensuring that tyres are always at the optimum pressure.
The Jost tyre inflation system is also highly customisable and can be adapted to meet the specific needs of each fleet or trailer. The system can be integrated into new trailers or retrofitted onto existing ones, says the firm, thereby making it an ideal solution for operators looking to improve road safety, reduce maintenance costs and stay compliant.
