Independent Scania dealer Keltruck says it is set to aid the transition to electric vehicles (EV) at its West Bromwich and Coventry sites, as the first Scania EV accredited workshops for the Midlands and South Wales.

In March, the test lane at Keltruck West Bromwich performed its first battery electric vehicle MOT, which passed with flying colours – while an electric Scania had previously been in the workshop for a pre-delivery inspection prior to its dispatch to a Coventry-based customer, with trained technicians overseeing the work and providing toolbox talks to the team.

All technicians are manufacturer-trained at The Scania Training Centre at Loughborough, one of Scania’s worldwide Training Centres of Excellence as well as being an Institute of the Motor Industry Awards Centre, where instructors and trainers are all experts in their fields and all courses are delivered in accordance with Scania’s health and safety policies.

Russ Warner, Keltruck aftersales director, commented: “At Keltruck health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do, and making sure our staff are fully trained and confident in maintaining these vehicles is very important to us.”

Keltruck’s Scania trained technicians are ready to support the updated battery electric trucks, which are available as both rigid trucks and trailer tractors – each sold as a turnkey solution with a wide range of tailored services. Ensuring goods transport providers can join the move to more sustainable ways of operating, they offer a brand new driveline, improved batteries, faster and more powerful charging capabilities, 350 km range at 40 tonnes load and 250 km range at 64 tonnes max GTW.

The new triple electric machine powertrain also provides ample electromechanical PTO, ensuring smooth and reliable operation of temperature-controlled transports or power hungry applications such as hook lifts.

Keltruck supports Scania’s eco goals stating that 10 per cent of vehicle sales will be electric by 2025, rising to 50 per cent by the end of this decade.
