Nissens aids workshops in climate system support

Nissens Automotive offers an extensive air conditioning components programme for commercial vehicles, comprising more than 200 truck part numbers catering for 825 original equipment (OE) references.

“CV workshops are at the frontline when it comes to AC and climate control systems and as service and repair of these areas is far from simple and requires specialist knowledge, they need to have the right partner when it comes to the premium quality parts they need, as well as the technical advice to allow them to tackle the work with confidence and do the job right, first time,” said the company.

“With decades of thermal management expertise, and as a dedicated aftermarket focused business, Nissens is therefore their perfect partner for the 2023 climate comfort season and beyond.”

The Nissens AC range offers 95 per cent coverage of Euro 6 applications, says the firm, and comes with Genuine Nissens Quality standard, which means that the parts are easy to install, provide excellent performance, and ensure a long lifespan.

“Naturally, new-to-range parts are an important element of any product range development and the addition of six AC pressure sensors, covering 14 OE references, ensures that distributors can keep supplying workshops with the replacement components they need, when they need them,” added Nissens.

One of the key assessments to ensure the AC system’s reliability and effectiveness is the purity of the oil/refrigerant mixture, so, rather than just thinking of the gas pressure as the weather improves, it is sensible for workshops to periodically perform a system inspection and, among other checks, this should include an inspection of the cleanliness of the AC loop,” the company advised.

“The AC circuit’s inner condition can tell a lot about potential problems within the system and deterioration of the medium mixture provides an excellent indication when making this assessment.

“Furthermore, the only way to determine the correct lubricant quantity in the system, as well as to secure the purity needed for its proper operation, is by flushing out the old mixture and replenishing it with fresh oil and refrigerant. Additionally, whenever replacing one of the system’s key components, such as a condenser or compressor, flushing is crucial to ensure a complete and effective repair.

“The refrigerant and lubricant necessary for the AC system’s vital operation can get contaminated by substances such as moisture, particle formation due to uncontrolled chemical reactions, or careless use of additives including UV dye or leak-stop agents. These can easily cause clogging of the narrow channels within the system, leading to consequential failures, so flushing the system is vital.”
