SAF-Holland issues hubcap update
SAF-Holland recently announced that as of May 2023, it would equip all SAF axles with an NFC chip, which is hidden inside the hubcap and safely protected from external influences in both hubcaps of each axle.
“The respective axle serial number is stored on this chip, which enables a unique identification of the axle,” explained the company.
“Currently the axle information can be identified via the nameplate with QR on the trailing arm under the left hand airbag or on the Z axle on the axle centre. With this new hubcap it will save going under the trailer for the correct axle information.”
The part number changes for the new SAF-Holland hubcaps are as follows: 03 304 0102 00 is replaced with 03 304 0152 00; 03 304 0135 00 is replaced with 03 304 0154 00; and 03 304 0109 00 is replaced with 03 304 0153 00.
“The SAF axles with the NFC chip can be recognized by the red radio symbol on the hubcap,” continued the firm.
“The retrofit kit contains SAF hubcaps including the NFC chips, which are not yet registered on the respective axle in the delivery state. Therefore, the NFC chips must be taught to the axles. This is done very easily in just a few steps:
“1. Download the free SAF-Holland App SH Connect. If you are not yet registered, you have to register once.
“2. Select Menu item – Support – NFC Registration
“3. Select – NFC hubcap
“4. Follow the menu.”
The NFC chip is already ready for use on the SAF axle and can be read with an NFC-capable end device and the SH Connect app.
