CV Show 2024 – Intelligent Energy & Viritech: ICEBreaker
The Commercial Vehicle Show takes place from 23-25 April at the NEC Birmingham.
Stand: 5F77
The companies will promote their ICEBreaker project, which is developing a clean fuel cell-powered HGV with powertrain weight reduced by 600kg along with asset lifetime and total cost of ownership said to be equivalent to that of a current diesel truck.
In order to deliver the same capability as diesel-powered HGVs but with zero emissions, ICEBreaker’s partners are transforming the architecture of hydrogen-powered heavy goods drivetrains.
This new approach uses a smaller 200 kilowatt direct water injection fuel cell and condenser from Intelligent Energy, and a single DC-to-DC converter and a small, powerful 16kWh battery pack from Viritech.
Horiba Mira is responsible for the technology integration and energy optimisation, with a proof-of-concept truck scheduled for demonstration this year.
